ACT LAB is a chance to explore how your physical skills can be used to create unique performance.

Act Lab is for students who would like to be a part of creating acts (solo or group) which you will then present at our 2021 Student Showcase on Saturday 11th December.  You don't need to be a seasoned performer or have high circus skills, you just need to have completed at least two terms of circus workshops with us (or equivalent). This year ACT LAB will be run by Lillikoi Kaos, who is fresh off her hugely successful work with Polytoxics' 'Demolition' show run as part of Brisbane Festival. 

Lilikoi is a multi-award winning Australian/Hawaiian powerhouse. She directs, performs, produces and teaches all around the world. She has worked with some of the most recognised Circus/Cabaret producers today including; La Clique Int, La Soiree Int, Briefs Factory, Hot Brown Honey, Finucane & Smith, Circus Oz, And Strut &Fret. 


Payments for this class come out 50% at time of booking, and 50% 4 weeks after class begins

Appropriate for

This class is open to individuals who identify as women, trans, and non-binary genders.

Preparation

What to bring

  • Your enthusiasm, a healthy snack and water bottle.
  • A notebook for saving your fabulous ideas.

What to wear

Comfortable clothing that won't restrict your movement, be ready to go upside down. Pants/tights past knee length are recommended.

Here at Vulcana Women’s Circus, we run workshops for adults and kids and teens, and we develop community projects with all kinds of different communities, the focus always being on creativity and empowerment through circus. You can book us for gigs, workshops or hire our space at the Stores Studio, Brisbane Powerhouse.

Vulcana’s circus workshop and performance projects engage a broad range of community participants and work in partnership with arts and community organisations to create opportunities for cultural expression and community development. In a safe, playful space we encourage participants to be themselves with joy and push the boundaries of what is achievable as one or in a group.

Really enjoyed the individual focus in this class. I was very scared on week 1, not knowing what to expect. By the end of the term, my confidence was so much better, and able performing in front of people with a smile. Also loved seeing other acts in same class, very inspiring.

Cancellations & Refunds

If the organiser cancels the class:

You are entitled to a full refund.

If you can't attend the class:

  • A transfer can be requested anytime before the class starts. Free of charge.
  • A credit note can be requested 2 days before the class starts. An admin fee of AU$20.00 applies.

No changes will be allowed after these times.
